Nafiya – The Refugee Settlement Coordinator

In 2014, as the Islamic State founded its so-called caliphate across swathes of Syria and Iraq, the terrorist group focused its most brutal atrocities on the Yazidis, an ethnic and religious minority population living in northern Iraq. Dozens of Yazidis that escaped have been able to start a new life in Winnipeg thanks to Nafiya Naso, settlement coordinator with Jewish Child and Family Services.
